on 7/21/11Uvex Sports & Swix Sport USA with the U.S. CPSC have announced the recall of the Funride Ski Helmet. They provide insufficient shock absorption and resistance to penetration, posing a head injury hazard. The helmets were sold at ski shops from 2009 to 2011.

on 6/20/11Petzl has issued an important recall for GriGri 2's falling within a range of serial numbers. Excessive force may cause the handle to jam in the open position, thereby disabling the assisted braking function. The jammed position is shown in the picture to the left.

on 6/7/11Singing Rock has announced a recall of certain Crux, Nara and Nemo harnesses. There has been a possible manufacturing defect resulting in decreased waist belt strength. The Crux is a fairly popular model that was the winner of Climbing Magazine's "Editors' Choice" Award.

on 4/27/11The Triad group has recalled Alcohol Prep Pads, Alcohol Swabs, Alcohol Swabsticks, and Providine Iodine Prep Pads sold under several brand names. These pads may have dangerous microbial contamination. These products are included in many first aid kits.

on 4/27/11Atwater Carey first aid kits (manufactured by Wisconsin Pharmacal Company) may contain Triad Iodine Prep Pads. The Triad Iodine Prep Pads have been recalled (as have their alcohol prep pads) due to potential contamination with bacteria that could lead to life threatening infections.

on 4/21/11CAMP USA has recalled their Photon Carabiners, Photon and Mach Express quickdraws. The recall covers all versions of the Photon including straight, bent, wire, and locking gates. According to the U.S. CPSC: "The carabiner gate may open under a heavy load, posing a risk of serious injury or death if the climber falls."
