on 10/28/11This recall is for unmarked aluminum rappel rings that were shipped by KONG and potentially other distributors. The rings have fractured and, in one case, apparently failed under body weight. The recall has been oddly handled through a variety of channels.

on 7/21/11Uvex Sports & Swix Sport USA with the U.S. CPSC have announced the recall of the Funride Ski Helmet. They provide insufficient shock absorption and resistance to penetration, posing a head injury hazard. The helmets were sold at ski shops from 2009 to 2011.

on 6/20/11Petzl has issued an important recall for GriGri 2's falling within a range of serial numbers. Excessive force may cause the handle to jam in the open position, thereby disabling the assisted braking function. The jammed position is shown in the picture to the left.

on 6/7/11Singing Rock has announced a recall of certain Crux, Nara and Nemo harnesses. There has been a possible manufacturing defect resulting in decreased waist belt strength. The Crux is a fairly popular model that was the winner of Climbing Magazine's "Editors' Choice" Award.

on 5/31/11The Bell Exodus full-face bicycle helmet has been recalled due to the potential for the chin-strap buckle to fail. Helmets were sold at Walmart, Amazon.com and, in Canada, at Mountain Equipment Co-op.
