“Adaptable Leaders” Interview
OSI Director Alex Kosseff is quoted extensively in this brief article "Becoming an Adaptable Outdoor Leader" in the January/February 2011 issue of AMC Outdoors magazine.
Written by Marc Chalufour the article hits on a few keys points regarding effective outdoor leadership. "Alex Kosseff, author of the AMC Guide to Outdoor Leadership, says that empathy skills—identifying and sympathizing with what others in the group are experiencing—are particularly important. If you've developed those skills elsewhere, for example as a parent or a supervisor on your job, you can bring them out onto the trail where members of your group may not always be comfortable raising concerns." Nothing groundbreaking, but the full article includes some good reminders for leaders.

As the summer approaches, I’ve been thinking a lot about the best ways for hiring and training. Just bought the book- hope to find good help.
Thank you.
