Black Diamond 2010 AvaLung Recall

Black Diamond Agent AvaLung PackBlack Diamond's statement regarding 2010 AvaLung units:

"Salt Lake City, Utah (December 14, 2010) - Black Diamond Equipment, Ltd. has recently discovered that the intake tubing on certain 2010 AvaLung Packs may crack under extremely cold temperatures. We are working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, and are in the process of obtaining final approval for a recall.

The recall will pertain only to a limited manufacturing run of Black Diamond AvaLung packs produced in 2010..."

Head to the BD recalls page for complete details including how to identifiy the specific packs affected and the process for obtaining a replacement AvaLung unit if needed. Black Diamond anticipates replacement of the defective AvaLung units in March 2011. We will add a link to the Consumer Product Safety Commission's posting if and when it becomes available.
