Iodine and Alcohol Prep Pad Recall

Triad Providine Iodine Prep PadsThe Triad group has recalled Alcohol Prep Pads, Alcohol Swabs, Alcohol Swabsticks, and Providine Iodine Prep Pads sold under several brand names. These pads may have potentially dangerous microbial contamination. These products are commonly included in first aid kits, including those from Atwater Carey.

This is a serious issue that has led to seizure of contaminated products from the Triad Group. The Providine Iodine Prep Pad recall from the Triad Group states: "Use of contaminated Povidine Prep Pads could lead to life-threatening infections, especially in at risk populations, including neonates, immune suppressed patients, and surgical patients."

The Providine Iodine Prep Pads are sold under the following names:

Cardinal Health
Medical Specialties
VHA
Triad
Triad Plus
North Safety
Total Resources

The Alcohol Alcohol Prep Pads, Alcohol Swabs, and Alcohol Swabsticks are sold under the follow names:

Cardinal Health
PSS Select
VersaPro
Boca/ Ultilet
Moore Medical
Walgreens
CVS
Conzellin

Several of these products are commonly used in first aid kits and outdoor first aid kit company Atwater Carey has already issued a warning regarding contaminated iodine prep pads. Check to make sure your supplies aren't impacted by the recall.

We're not republishing the extended recall notices here, but they can be found on the FDA's website:
