Midwest Risk Management Symposium

Wilderness Tripping Canoes

The inaugural “Midwest Risk Management Symposium” will be a unique regional conference on outdoor risk management. OSI’s Alex Kosseff will be presenting along with other regional and national experts. The symposium is organized by the Upper Midwest’s three venerable YMCA wilderness tripping camps, Manito-wish, Menogyn, and Widjiwagan. It will be held October 30th – November 1st, at Camp Manito-wish in Boulder Junction, WI.

From the organizers' description:

“The mission of the inaugural Midwest Risk Management Conference is to provide an opportunity for outdoor educators of the Upper Midwest to collaborate and to contribute to the advancement of risk management practices.

The risks inherent in the adventure and experiential education field require that organizations constantly assess their programs and stay up-to-date on the accepted industry standards. Through a series of presentations, workshops, and round table discussions, the Midwest Risk Management Symposium will provide a cost-effective avenue for the sharing of information in the areas of program administration, staff training, and field practices. We will utilize the experience and knowledge of leading industry professionals to present ideas, facilitate discussions, and be resources to those seeking the latest information on all facets of risk management.

YMCA Camps Manito-wish, Menogyn, and Widjiwagan are excited to host the inaugural Midwest Risk Management Conference. Please join us to develop relationships with your peers in the industry and to contribute to the advancement of appropriate risk management. The conference will be held at Camp Manito-wish YMCA in Boulder Junction, WI beginning with dinner and opening address on October 30, 2013. Conference programming will continue on October 31st through the morning of November 1st, ending with our keynote speaker in the early afternoon.”
