Rescuers Question $7,000 Bill

Volunteer rescuers with New Hampshire's Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) are asking why a woman they helped to rescue was charged $7,000 for rescue services. The law allowing for rescue costs to be recouped in this manner was intended for negligent outdoorspeople, which doesn't seem to be the case in this situation. We argree with Rick Wilcox and the MRS that the NH Department of Fish and Game is taking the wrong approach in this situation.

Thanks to the Conway Daily Sun for their reporting on this important topic.
