Montana Yellowstone Expeditions (renamed REACH)
The Outdoor Safety Institute offers custom training program on a contract basis. These training services range from conference workshops to comprehensive multi-day staff training programs. Broad areas of focus include risk management, outdoor leadership, technical skills, and driver training.
Training on safety and liability management for:
- Boards of directors
- Management
- Field instructors
OSI also offers conference workshops and presentations on these topics.
Experiential classroom and field training curriculum building on the AMC Guide to Outdoor Leadership by OSI's Alex Kosseff.
- Past courses have ranged from 4 hours to two weeks
- Focus on group dynamics, decision making, teaching, facilitation, and much more
- Role playing scenarios & case study are key training tools
- Option to include technical skills training components

Training programs can include:
- Backcountry travel and safety skills
- Mountaineering and backcountry skiing
- Rock climbing : PCIA or AMGA certifications available
- Wilderness medicine certification : working in partnership with Aerie Backcountry Medicine
- Whitewater safety and rescue : with help from our friends at the Whitewater Rescue Institute
On site training or curriculum materials for delivery of your own training.
